          Biography of Branko Crvenkovski

          Branko Crvenkovski, the former President of Macedonia, was born on October 12, 1962, in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

          His father was an officer in the Yugoslav People's Army. In 1986, he graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Skopje, specializing in programming.

          Political Career

          Crvenkovski began his political career in 1990 when he was elected as a Member of Parliament.

          A year later, he became the leader of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM).
