          HASSAN HATHOUT - A Man of God, A Man of Love


          (Los Angeles - 4/26/09)—On Saturday, April 25, the world lost a pioneer in American Muslim movement, a medical ethicist, a poet and a powerful voice for reform.

          Dr.

        1. Hassan Hathout was a Muslim doctor and professor of medicine who lived in Britain, the south-west Asia, and the United States.
        2. Hathout was the founding professor and chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University, professor of history of medicine, co-founder and member of the board of trustees of the Islamic Organization of Medical Sciences, member of the ethics committee for obstetrics.
        3. Hathout was born in Cairo on Dec. 23, The son of a schoolteacher, he was educated at the University of Edinburgh where he earned degrees.
